Don't Miss: El Paso's Tom Lea Month

Don't miss: Tom Lea month September 28th - October 31st.

One of El Paso's more famous artists and illustrators, Tom Lea, grew up here and spent a great deal of his life describing the west with his murals, paintings, and illustrations. He also is noted for his contributions as a war reporter during World War II and after as a reporter for Life magazine. After the war he became a prolific writer and painter and spent considerable time in Mexico. During this past Bush administration, one of his paintings hung in the Oval Office, on loan from the El Paso Museum of Art.

You can see the full list of events here: Tom Lea Month 2012

But you can count on there being plenty of tours, lectures, and viewing opportunities throughout El Paso. I'll definitely be heading to a few of them, because it is important for all of us to celebrate examples of the rich talent and landscape we have in the El Paso/Juarez region.
